How can we help?
Our Care Funding and Benefits advice can make sure you aren't paying for care that you shouldn't be. It can help you choose the right care, get the assessments you need and access support. We are experts in welfare benefits and can help you to understand the benefits you are entitled to, fill in forms and if necessary appeal a benefit decision.
Care Navigator Advice
Care Funding and Benefits Advice will help you to understand your care options and find good care. We will guide you through the system and identify your benefit entitlement (over 80% of the people we speak to have unclaimed benefit entitlement simply because they don’t know what they can claim or believe wrongly that they are claiming everything they are entitled too!). Our advice will help you to consider the ways to pay for care including NHS and Local Authority funding and confirm whether or not you should be paying for your own care.
Benefit Forms/Challenging a Decision
Care Funding and Benefits Advice will make sure you are claiming the benefits that you are entitled too but sometimes the forms are just too overwhelming and are very criteria driven. We can help if you are struggling to fill in the forms or would like to challenge a decision that you don’t agree with. This can be by telephone, a virtual meeting or we can arrange to visit you at home. Please get in touch if you would like some help or advice.
Arranging care for a loved one without any time or previous experience of care and benefit system can be confusing.
Our advice and support will help you to save time and money by explaining:
– Care and housing options
– NHS Continuing Healthcare eligibility
– Local Authority charging
– Welfare Benefits entitlement
– Paying for your own care

Looking for care
Whether you are living at home and need a bit of help, being discharged from hospital or are thinking about moving into a care home for some respite or long-term, care funding and benefits advice can help you choose the right support and make sure you aren’t paying for care that you shouldn’t be and claiming the benefits you are entitled to.
Thinking about moving into a care home
If you are considering a move into a Residential care home or a Nursing home, whether for respite or long term there are so many things to consider, not least whether the time is right and where? Can you afford it? For how long? Can anyone help? Care funding and benefits advice is so important for continuity of care and making appropriate, affordable choices.
Caring for a loved one
Need a break or feel that things are getting on top of you but not sure whether you trust anyone else to look after your loved one or if they will allow for that. Please don’t leave seeking advice until you are exhausted and reach crisis point as it is all too often that it is the carers health that suffers and support early on can help you to stay in control.
Paying for your own care
Too often people pay for their care when they shouldn’t be because of a misunderstanding of the rules or relying on advice from someone who is not a specialist in care. Make sure that you have the right assessments, have claimed the benefits you are entitled to and that you have the financial contributions and services you are eligible for even if you are considered a ‘self-funder’, able to pay for your own care.
Claiming benefits
More than 80% of the clients that we spoke to last year had benefit entitlement that they weren’t claiming and every little helps! If you are supporting someone to manage their finances please let us help you to make sure you haven’t missed anything. We can help you to claim your benefit entitlement, fill in the forms and challenge a decision that you are not happy with.
Confused by the jargon
There are so many different people and agencies involved if/when you need support or are claiming benefits and they all have their own jargon. We have a Jargon Buster in the Care Guides section of the website but if you would like some help to understand who does what, how, where and when please get in touch.
Making Plans for the future
Not many of us plan for a care need, not many know that specialist care funding and benefits advice is a thing, until it happens to you and then time is short and urgent action often needed. Don’t leave it too late, support at an earlier stage can help you to stay at home independently and Making a Power of Attorney or a Will, financial planning and speaking with your loved ones can save time, money and a lot of heartache later on…
Following the loss of a loved one
It can come as a shock to family following a bereavement just how much the person who has passed was doing for their partner or spouse and it’s clear that some help needs to be put into place. Not easy if there is a lack of acceptance or willingness to pay…
