“When my Mother fell and went into Hospital I wasn’t sure she would come out. Your advice helped me to find and arrange a new home, I wouldn’t have known where to start”. NM – Whitchurch
Mary had been living in a Residential care home for 3 years and she loved it! Sadly, she was admitted into Hospital with respiratory problems and her health deteriorated. When she was ready to be discharged, her care needs had increased and it was no longer possible for her to return home. The Residential Home was devastated to say that they wouldn’t be able to manage her needs and her Son was told to “look for a Nursing Home” but wasn’t sure where to start.
A Few Questions - Changing Care Needs
There were a few ‘funding’ questions around Mary’s Hospital discharge and although initially she was classed as a ‘self-funder’ this was likely to change and added a layer of complexity around a new provider accepting her. It wasn’t clear who had done what and the family needed guidance and clarity.
We were so pleased to be able to advise this family and help with the outcome as it was a difficult time for them. Thanks to the home for making the transition as smooth as possible. Mary now receives her benefit entitlement, is in a home for life and has settled in well!
